Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois (19-4, 4-0 MVC) won its 12th consecutive game on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Drake (10-12, 0-2 MVC). The Salukis take the series over the Bulldogs after winning games one and two as they go for their first three-game sweep of the season Sunday.Â

Madi Eberle made her second consecutive start in the circle for the Salukis as she picked up her sixth win of the season to improve to 6-4, with a 2.89 ERA on the year. Maddia Groff came into the game in the fourth inning after a leadoff triple for the Bulldogs. Drake was able to plate a run on a sacrifice bunt but Groff went on to get two more quick outs.Â

From there, Groff held Drake in check allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out three to earn her first save of the season.Â

Elizabeth Warwick hit her second home run of the season to put the first run on the board for either side in the third. Following Warwick, Lis sent a double into right center field before being brought home on an RBI single from Rylie Hamilton.Â

The Salukis will go for the series sweep Sunday beginning at noon.Â
