CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois track and field celebrated senior day with a collection of good performances Saturday at the Bill Cornell Invite in Carbondale, Ill.
Director of Track and Field Richard Jones reflected on the sentiment of Senior Day.
"Having a good home meet and letting the seniors run in front of the home crowd one last time is always a great feeling."
Here are the nine seniors who were honored:
Guthrie set a personal-record time of 4:03.88 in the 1500-meter run in the last home event of his career.
History was made in the women's discus throw as Christine Nosike finished first and set a personal record with a distance of 51.03 meters. The throw slots her tenth in Saluki history in the event.
Jones believes a weekend off will allow the team to refocus on the task at hand.
"We have a week to regroup and in 2 weeks and beyond we will get into the heavy part of the season."
A full breakdown of the meet can be accessed via the Live Results.
