CARBONDALE, Ill. – After a few weeks away from competition, Southern Illinois swim and dive is back in action this week when they host the A3 Performance Invite here in Carbondale.

Last Time Out
Southern has been out of competition since October 24 and 25 when the women's squad faced Illinois and Illinois State. SIU took down Missouri Valley Conference rival Illinois State 215-129 while falling to Illinois 212-134. Susy Hernandez, Liseska Gallegos Gutierrez, and Olivia Herron all took home multiple gold medals.
As for the men's squad, they were last in action on October 11 at a tri-meet hosted by Northwestern, where they lost to the host school 242-58 as well as to Miami (OH) 200-99.
Weekly Honors
Following the meet, Herron was named the MVC Women's Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season. Herron claimed four individual gold medals at the meet, one relay gold, and set three pool records at Illinois' ARC Pool.
The Matchups
SIU welcomes four teams to Carbondale for the A3 Performance Invite: Nebraska-Omaha, Bellarmine, Eastern Illinois, and Evansville.
Nebraska-Omaha comes to the invite with a 4-1 record on the men's side while their women's team is 5-2; both teams are coming off a loss to Missouri State, which took place on from October 31-November 1. As for Bellarmine, both of their squads lost to Ball State on November 8.
Eastern Illinois currently has a 1-1 record on their men's side while their women's team sits at 0-2. The Panthers were last in action in on October 25, where the women's team picked up their first win of the season but the men's team fell against Olivet Nazarene. Finally, Evansville competed last on October 25, where both teams lost to Southern Indiana and the women's team also fell to Indiana State.
