Recap | Women’s Swim and Dive Reels in Two Golds on Championships Opening Night

Waukee, Iowa – The Women's Missouri Valley Conference Swim and Dive Championships began Wednesday night, and Southern Illinois' squad made a splash on day one, taking first in both relay events while also setting new program, MVC, and championship record in both swims.
How it Happened
Wednesday night's events started with the 200-medley relay. SIU's squad of Celia Pulido, Olivia Herron, Bea Padron, and Susanna Hernandez finished their swim in 1:36.84, which not only brought home the gold, but also set a new program, MVC, and championship record.
The only other event Wednesday night was the 800-yard freestyle relay, which the Salukis also took first-place in. Their time of 7:12.16 set a new program, MVC, and championship record. The team was also comprised of Hernandez, Padron, Herron, and Pulido.

Day two of the Women's MVC Championships kicks off tomorrow with prelims at 10:30 a.m. Finals then occur at 6 p.m.
