Preview | Track and Field takes on Drake Relays and Fighting Illini Twilight in Split Meets

Carbondale, Ill. – Southern Illinois Track and Field will compete in two events this upcoming weekend. Relay sprinters will look to continue their dominance in at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, while the rest of the team will look to take on strong competition in Champaign, Ill, and the Fighting Illini Twilight.
Drake Relays will host programs from all over the country ranging from Washington to Ohio. The Salukis will see competition from Missouri Valley Conference foes such as Drake, Northern Iowa, and Bradley,
The Fighting Illini Challenge will feature the hosts Illinois, as well as Purdue, Wisconsin, Butler, Illinois Wesleyan, Lewis, Maryville (Mo.), Millikin, Milwaukee, and MVC programs Bradley, and Illinois State.
The Drake Relays are on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Day one will see Brianna Nieset compete in the 1500M race at 4:58 p.m., and Ansley Bailey will compete in the 800M at 5:34 p.m. Saluki sprinters Shane Ashton, Christian Coleman, Christian Donatelli, Andre Jackson II, Nadir Langston, Caleb Massiah, Xavier Preston, Teanna Bell, Trinity Cleaver, Vashti Grey, Triniti Douglas, Leah Thames, and KeyAnn Wilson will compete in various events Friday and Saturday.
The Fighting Illini Twilight is a one-day event with the field events starting at 1 p.m. with the women's discus and the men's long jump. Track events will also begin at 1 p.m., the event is scheduled to conclude at 6:50 p.m. with the 4x400M relay races. Follow the meet with Live Results.
