The Salukis led, 14-0, 25 seconds into the game. Saluki KR Jim Thompson returned the opening kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown. SIU RB Amos Bullocks, who rushed for a then-school record 996 yards in 1960, scored two touchdowns in this game. The first came on a 21-yard run midway through the first quarter. All-American G Houston Antwine's block sprung Bullocks' TD run. Bullocks' second TD came on a four-yard second-quarter run. Reserve RB Fred Coger also scored two rushing touchdowns, as the Salukis improved to, 7-0. The Salukis sealed this game when they scored a school-record 31 fourth quarter points. | |  | | Â |
