Csaba Gersack begins his first year as a graduate assistant with the SIU Swimming and Diving teams. During his collegiate career with SIU, Gersack garnered several honors and became one of SIU[apos]s most decorated swimmers.

- Competed at both the 2008 and 2012 Olympics
- Two-time second-team All-Conference swimmer

2012-13 (Senior):Honorable mention Academic All-Conference selection...Competed in 10 meets...Scored in all three individual events he competed in at the MAC Championships...Won six events on the year...Swept the 500- and 1000-yard freestyles in the dual meet at Evansville...Posted nine top-three finishes.
2011-12 (Junior):Second-team All-MAC selection...Won his first four races of the year, winning the Saluki Miler, Open Water 5K, and the 500- and 1000-yard freestyle in a tri-meet with Miami (OH) and Evansville...Won seven events on the year...Finished fifth in all three of his events at the MAC Championships, the 500-yard freestyle, the 1650-yard freestyle and the 400-yard individual medley...Qualified for the London Olympics in the 10-kilometer open-water swim and placed 18th.
2010-11 (Sophomore):Second-team All-Conference selection...Competed in 12 meets...Competed at the USA Swimming National Championships, placing 19th of 45 swimmers in the 1650 freestyle...Picked up 11 wins on the season...Posted two top-five finishes at the MAC Championships, one in the 400 IM (fifth) and one in the 1650 freestyle (second)...Won 11 events.
Prior to SIU:Competed in open water events...Made the Beijing Olympics for the 10K...Swam in the 2009 World Championships and placed 13th in the 10K and 15th in the 5K.
Personal:Has three brothers and two sisters, all of whom are swimmers...Son of Imre Gercsak and Eva Papp...Born Aug. 19, 1988 in Budapest, Hungary.
