
Swim and Dive Continues Invite Circuit at Mizzou Invite

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Just a week after hosting and sweeping the A3 Performance Invite, Southern Illinois is back on the invite scene when they participate in the Mizzou Invite from Thursday through Saturday.

Last Time Out
SIU hosted the A3 Performance Invite last week from Thursday through Saturday. In the five-team field, Southern came out in first place on both the men's and women's side of the event, with the men grabbing 825 points and the women scoring 943. After the meet, Olivia Herron was named the Women's Swimmer of the Meet while Benedek Andor was named the Men's Swimmer of the Meet. In addition to her award, Herron also set new pool records and met NCAA "B" standards in the 100- and 200-breaststroke events.
Weekly Award Winners
Thanks to their performances at the A3 Performance Invite, five Salukis were named weekly award winners by the Missouri Valley Conference. Herron earned the title of Women's Swimmer of the Week for a third time this season, while Lívia Munkácsi-Nagy was named the Women's Freshman of the Week for the second time this year.
On the men's side, Kentucky transfer Carter Ruthven earned Men's Swimmer of the Week for his first award as a Saluki. Maddax Thompson was named the Men's Freshman of the Week, while Oliver Mebs was the Men's Diver of the Week.
The Matchup
SIU will be facing Missouri, Wyoming, FIU, TCU, Missouri S&T, and McKendree at the Mizzou Invite.
Missouri, the host of the invite, comes in with a 2-1 record on the women's side and a 1-1 mark for the men's team. They were last in action at the Georgia Tech Diving Invitational from November 13-15. At the diving event, the Tigers gabbed five podiums in six events while picking up a pair of wins.
TCU is coming off the Texas Diving Invitational, where their best performance came on the final day when a Horned Frog nabbed fourth on the platform.
As for Wyoming, the Cowboys enter the Invite with a 4-3 record for the women's team and a 1-4 record for the men's team. Both squads were last at it versus the Colorado School of Mines on November 1, with both teams coming out victorious.
FIU currently holds a 1-2 record. Their women-only squad last competed in a Tri-Meet at NSU on November 7 and 8, with the Golden Panthers beating Lynn, 252-139, and losing to NSU, 202-189.
Missouri S&T and their men-only team, who are ranked #24 in Division II in the latest CSCAA Poll, currently sit with a 2-2 record. This will be their second straight invitational, as they competed at the Drury Invite from November 7-8 where they came in second out of the six teams competing.
S&T's fellow Division II school, McKendree, rounds out the lineup at the Mizzou Invite. The Bearcats sit with a 2-1 record, and most recently fell at Missouri 737-637.1 on November 1.
