Womens Swimming And Diving Team Defeats Drury University

CARBONDALE, Ill. -
The Saluki women's swimming and diving team defeated Drury University 121-107 in a non-conference dual meet Friday Oct. 26.
Sophmore Leane Pienaar led the way in scoring at the meet with first place finishes in three events, the 200 individual medley (2:12.02), the 500 (5:07.04) and 1,000 freestyles (10:24.83). Senior Brooke Radostits won the 200 meter backstroke (2:05.09). Sophmore Brigitta Olson placed first in the 200 butterly (2:07.10).Senior Jenna Meckler won the 200 freestyle (1:55.53) and placed second in the 100 freestyle (53.99). Radostits, Olson and Meckler joined junior Susan Furkin to win the the 400 medley relay (4:00.04) to open the dual meet.
Senior Breanne Hay led the women's diving team with second and third place finishes in the 1 and 3-Meter dives. Senior Courtney Corder placed second behind Radostits by one-hundredth of a second (2:12.03) in the 200 individual medley to round out the top finishers in the meet.
The team resumes action Friday November 3, with a dual home meet versus conference foe Evansville at the Student Rec Center Pool at 5 p.m.
Notes: Pienaar almost set a personal best time in the 1,000 freestyle versus Drury, her time of 10:24.83 is just behind her best of 10:24.34 that she set in a dual meet against Western kentucky last season.
