Women's Tennis Struggles In Season Opener

Columbia, Mo. - Sisters Alejandra and Maria Blanco each won singles matches to pace the Southern Illinois University women's tennis team who struggled this past weekend at the Missouri Invitational.

SIU joined Murray State, Illinois State and host Missouri in the four team individual scoring event. Both of the Blanco wins came against the Racers. Alejandra defeated Melissa Spencer at number one singles, 6-3, 6-7, 10-4. Maria then took care of Jaclyn Leeper in the number two spot, 6-3, 2-6, 10-8.

SIU will return to action when it hosts the Saluki Invitational Sept. 27-29 at University Courts.
