Boca Raton, Fla. - The women's tennis team was defeated by # 72 Florida Atlantic University, 7-0, Monday afternoon. With the non-conference loss, SIU falls to 2-5 on the year.
The Lady Owls breezed by the Salukis in both singles and doubles action, allowing for a clean sweep. FAU improved to 9-3, dropping just one set in six singles victories. At No. 1, FAU's Alena Dvorakova was able to defeat junior Alejandra Blanco, 6-0, 6-0. Karolina Roubickova also picked up a win at the No. 2 spot with a 6-2, 6-4 win over freshman Maria Blanco. FAU completed the sweep with wins at No. 3-6 positions.
Southern Illinois continues play Tuesday (11th) when it visits Florida International, then on Thursday (13th) against Syracuse. Results can be found at www.siusalukis.com.
