Knitter Named MVC Women's Tennis Player Of The Week

Carbondale, Ill. - Junior transfer Jessica Knitter (Mt. San Antonio JC) continues her winning trend at the No. 3 spot this week, and was named women's tennis player of the week by the Missouri Valley Conference. Knitter won 2 out of 3 singles matches during the week, improving her spring record to 6-6 (.500).
Knitter lost on Friday to Troy State's Laura Alarcon, 6-4, 7-5, but pulled out both of her matches on Saturday, defeating Viktoria Gruber of Memphis, 6-3, 4-6, 10-8. She then knocked off St. Louis' Amy O'Handley, 6-2, 6-1.
Knitter has a doubles record of 3-8 this season, competing with four different teammates.
Knitter is the first Saluki to take home player of the week honors this season and captures the award for the first time in her career.
