Carbondale, Ill. - The women's tennis team has an important advantage this weekend over its opponents ... home court. SIU, with a 4-2 conference record, will finish out the regular season on its own turf with matches against Indiana State (Thursday), Bradley (Friday), and Illinois State (Saturday).
The Salukis (7-12 overall) were picked to finish fifth this season, and currently hold that spot. Head coach Judy Auld believes her team could pull out a fourth place finish if SIU can win 2 of 3 matches this weekend. Also, the possible return of junior Tana Trapani, the 2000-01 MVC co-Freshman of the Year, to the singles lineup will drastically help the Salukis chances.
Action begins at 3pm on Thursday and Friday, and 10am on Saturday, and will take place at the University Courts next to the SIU Arena. Results of all three matches can be found at www.siusalukis.com.
