Carbondale, Ill. - The women's tennis team begins a five-match home stand this weekend as it faces off against two conference foes in hopes of extending a 3-1 MVC record. Action will take place at the University Courts, next to the SIU Arena, beginning Saturday at 11am against Southwest Missouri State. The Salukis will continue on Sunday with a match against Wichita State at 10am.
SIU holds a 6-11 overall spring record, winning three of its last four matches despite multiple injuries throughout the team. Freshman Maria Blanco has helped lead the Salukis to a quick start going undefeated (4-0) at the No. 2 singles spot in conference action. Three others, juniors Alejandra Blanco and Jessica Knitter, as well as freshman Sophie Bedard, have won 3 of the 4 MVC matches they have played.
Results for this weekend's matches can be found on the team's official website at www.siusalukis.com.
