CARBONDALE, Ill. - The women's tennis team will begin Missouri Valley Conference play as they host the Aces of Evansville tomorrow at the SIU Arena Tennis Courts.
After capturing her 400th career win this past weekend coach Judy Auld hopes the team will begin to concentrate primarily on the season. "We finally got that monkey off our backs," Auld said. "It's nice to finally get that win, but now we can focus solely on the season."
The Salukis, currently 6-7 on the season, look to get back to .500 on the season as they welcome Evansville to SIU to open up MVC play tomorow. The Salukis will have their work cut out for them as Evansville been playing well as of late. The Aces picked up two impressive wins this past weekend as they defeated Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne (6-1) and Southeast Missouri State (7-0) to improve to 9-4 on the season.
SIU will look to senior's Alejandra Blanco and Tana Trapani to continue to lead the Dawgs as the team starts conference play. Trapani is just 13 wins shy of cracking the all-time top 20 leader board at SIU, while Trapani and Blanco look to continue to be a dominating duo in doubles play as they have posted 37 total wins as a doubles team, placing them sixth on the all-time SIU list.
