WICHITA, KA. - The women's tennis team picked up a solid 5-1 win over the Wichita State Shockers today as the Salukis improve to 8-9 overall and 2-2 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
The Shockers had a hard time slowing down the Salukis, as the Dawgs were one win shy of shutting out WSU. SIU's trio of seniors once again came through to lead the Salukis to victory. Seniors Alejandro Blanco, Jessica Knitter and Tana Trapani all were able to picked up wins as Blanco defeated Ana Exeni (6-2, 7-5) at the No. 1 spot, Knitter defeated Wendi Webster (6-4, 6-3) at the No. 3 spot and Trapani defeated WSU's Marisa Simmons at the No. 4 singles spot.
The Salukis will wrap up their season, as they will host their final three matches next weekend at the SIU Arena Tennis Courts. SIU will welcome Drake on April 16, Northern Iowa on April 17, and will wrap up the weekend with a match against Creighton on April 18.
