Women's Tennis Defeated In Opening MVC Match

Terre Haute, Ind. - While the Salukis put forth a valent effort in singles play it was the Sycamores sweep in doubles play that cost the Dawgs their opening Missouri Valley Conference match.
While the Salukis loss the match senior Tana Trapani continued to play well as she posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over ISU's Magda Faferek at the No. 4 singles spot. Fellow senior Alejandra Blanco did not have as good of luck as she dropped a tough match (6-3, 6-1) to ISU's Carolina Salinas at the No. 1 singles spot.
SIU falls to 6-8 (0-1 MVC) on the year while the Sycamores picked up their eight win in their last nine outings to improve to an impressive 11-8 (2-1 MVC) record. SIU will look to get back on the winning track as they head to Normal, Ill. to take on the Redbirds of Illinois State.
