Women's Tennis Defeated in Conference Opener

NORMAL, Ill. - The Salukis could not get anything going today as the Illinois State Redbirds handed them their first loss in the Missouri Valley Conference.
In single's action the 'Birds swept the Salukis, winning all seven matches. Senior Jessica Knitter put up a strong fight as she took ISU's Elizabeth Bingier to three sets, but was eventually defeated 6-0, 4-6, (10-8) at the No. 3 singles spot. The Salukis only win of the day came from seniors Alejandra Blanco and Tana Trapani as they picked up a win at the No. 2 doubles spot.
The Salukis are back in action tomorrow as they finish up play for the weekend in Peoria, as they are scheduled to do battle with the Braves of Bradley. Match time is set for 10:00 am.
