CARBONDALE, IL. - The Salukis will begin their spring season as they head to Richmond, Ky. to face Belmont, Xavier and Eastern Kentucky on Jan. 29-30.
The Salukis will have a young line up as they showcase three juniors, Maria Blanco, Zoya Honarmand and Zuzana Palovic and three freshmen Laura Bredniak, Joana Hornestam, and Amanda Taillefer.
While the team is young they do have plenty of experience in their three juniors. Blanco played at the Salukis #2 spot last year and posted a solid 3-2 singles record in the fall, while Palovic went undefeated last year in MVC play with a 6-0 record and had a solid fall season. Honarmand posted a 5-4 MVC record last year and was .500 on the season with a 25-25 record.
Head coach Brett Bridel will look to get the season started on the right foot as he leads the Dawgs in his first year as head coach for SIU.
