CARBONDALE, IL. - The Salukis (3-7) will defend their home turf, as they welcome the Memphis Lady Tigers (3-9) to the SIU Arena Tennis Courts on Tuesday.
After opening up MVC play this past weekend with a 7-0 shut out over the Aces of Evansville, SIU will look to continue to improve their game against the Lady Tigers. The entire lineup for the Dawgs, gave coach Brett Bridel a solid effort in their last match, and Bridel will be looking for similar results against Memphis.
The Lady Tigers will come into Carbondale, trying to snap a two-match losing streak and will be looking to Marlene Dirnstorfer to lead them at the No. 1 singles spot. Dirnstorfer will be a tough match up for SIU junior Maria Blanco at the No. 1 spot, as the Memphis senior has won five of her last six matches and has been playing excellent tennis as of late. Memphis will also be looking to sophomore Christina Wieser to help lead the way against SIU. Wieser has posted a 5-7 record on the season, but has been playing exceptionally well, winning three out of her last four matches at the No. 5 singles spot.
The match will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the SIU Arena Tennis courts tomorrow and all results can be found at www.SIUSalukis.com
