Women's Tennis Team Named 2005 ITA All-Academic Team

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University women's tennis team was named a 2005 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team award winner, while five Saluki student-athletes were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
The ITA All-Academic Team award recognizes programs with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above among all players who compete in at least one match. The SIU team carried a 3.57 GPA during the 2004-2005 school year, ranking the team first at SIU.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1) be a varsity letterwinner, 2) have a GPA of at least 3.50 for the current academic year, and 3) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
Honorees from the 2004-05 team include freshmen Laura Bredniak and Joana Hornestam, sophomore Brianna Janssen, junior Zoya Honarmand and senior Tana Trapani.
