Women's Tennis added two new members, Agata Skorupska and Martina Vianna Cé, to its roster announced head coach René Vidal on Wednesday.
Skorupska comes to SIU from her hometown of Pozna, Wielkopolska in Poland. Vidal points to her drive on and off the court as a key reason why he added her to the spring roster
"Agata has the 3 C's of a champion: character, competence, and chemistry," Vidal said."She is committed to doing the right thing, the right way, with the right people-her teammates and staff."
Vianna Cé joins the Salukis from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil and brings with her a passion for tennis, which Vidal appreciates.
"Martina is an extraordinary talent and an exceptional person," said Vidal. "She has a passion for competition and will quickly earn the respect of her teammates and competitors alike."
The two new members bring the roster total to nine athletes, all of which Vidal believes are imperative to the future success of the team.
"Martina and Agata join Jessica Flannery and Michela Cruise in rounding out our freshman class," said Vidal. "We are focused on long-term success and I believe we have the right student-athletes in place in order to control our destiny as a team."
