Women's Tennis shuts down Dayton

Dayton, Ohio - The Southern Illinois women's tennis team picked up their first win of the spring season today with a 6-1 victory over Dayton.
SIU got off to a rough start on the doubles' courts, dropping two of three matches and falling behind 1-0. Sabine Tsala Mvilongo and Andrea Courtney picked up the Salukis' only doubles' win, defeating Megan Gray and Maggie Ernst 8-2.
After dropping the doubles' point the Salukis bounced back, sweeping the singles' matches. Tsala Mvilongo, Ame Blacketer needed three sets to finish off her opponent while Jessica Flannery, Michela Cruise, Agata Skorupska and Amanda Taillefer were all able to take their foes out in straight sets.
The Salukis (1-1) will return to action on Friday, Feb. 16 when they travel to Nashville to face Belmont at 5 p.m.
