CARBONDALE - The Southern Illinois women's tennis team will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Paducah, Ky. to face Murray State on Friday and Miami (Ohio) on Sunday.
The Salukis' last two matches were victories over Lipscomb and Belmont, bringing their record to 3-1. The Dawgs look to continue their winning streak this weekend against stiff competition.
"Murray State and Miami (OH) are both tough, high-quality opponents and resemble much of the competition we will see in Conference play," said head coach Rene Vidal. "We have been working very hard in practice and are looking forward to the competition."
The Racers are 2-3 for the season with tough losses coming at Kentucky and Missouri. Murray State is lead in singles by sophomore Adriana Alvarez with a 7-9 record on the season. Senior twin sisters Anna and Rachael Lask lead the Racers on the doubles' courts with a 12-6 record.
The Red Hawks are 3-7 after facing tough competition, including Indiana, MIchigan State and Ohio State.
Friday's match against the Racers will begin at 5 p.m. and the Salukis will face the Red Hawks at 10 a.m. Sunday.
