Salukis Move Match Indoors, Defeat Bradley 6-1

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois women's tennis improved their record to 10-4, 2-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference yesterday with a 6-1 win over Bradley (5-12, 0-3 MVC).
The match was moved to the Salukis' indoor facility at Sports Blast due to cold weather.
The Salukis took a 1-0 lead early by winning two of three doubles matches. Jessica Flannery and Michela Cruise won at No. 1 doubles 8-4 over Elise Montrose and Jessica Buterbaugh. The Salukis' other win came in No. 3 action when Sabine Tsala Mvilongo and Agata Skorupska defeated Emily Regenold and Erin Krubeck 8-4.
The Salukis then moved on to singles play where they won five of the six matches. Tsala Mvilongo beat Montrose, 6-1, 6-2, in No. 1 singles action. Skorupska defeated Kelly Donohue in No. 2 action, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Flannery battled for a win over Buterbaugh, 7-6, 6-3, in No. 4 action. Vianna Ce knocked off Kim Braun in No. 5 play, 6-1, 6-2. Cruise beat Krubeck 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
The Salukis will be back in action today at 2 p.m. when they host No. 66 Indiana State (8-7, 1-2 MVC). The match has been moved to Sports Blast due to the cold weather.
