CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Southern Illinois women's tennis team fell back to .500 on the season with a 5-2 loss at Charleston Southern Tuesday afternoon.
After putting together a five-match winning streak, the Salukis (6-6) have dropped three out of their last four contests.
In singles action, Anita Lee improved her record to 4-3 at the No. 2 spot with a three-set victory over Brooke Pletcher, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
Southern's only other point on the day came from Korey Love, who has now won back-to-back matches at the fourth position. Love came out on top in straight sets against CSU's Alia Nour, 6-2, 6-2.
The Salukis' were plagued once again by their short-handed lineup, playing in the absence of the injured Vishakha Sheoran and having to default sixth singles and third doubles.
Charleston Southern swept the doubles point from SIU, claiming the top two spots by scores of 8-4 and 8-6.
Southern Illinois will have a quick turnaround, taking on South Carolina State Wednesday in Hilton Head, S.C.
