WATERLOO, Iowa - The Southern Illinois women's tennis team ran into a road block Saturday afternoon, dropping a 7-0 decision at Northern Iowa.
SIU (9-11, 1-3 MVC) moved back indoors due to inclement weather, and the Panthers were not giving up any ground on their home court.
"UNI came out very strong today," said head coach Audra Nothwehr. "Our timing was a little off today and we weren't able to recover."
Northern Iowa (13-7, 4-0 MVC) claimed the doubles point first, despite a strong victory from Melanie Delsart and Jennifer Dien at the top spot. The Salukis were forced to forfeit the No. 3 match once again which gave UNI the 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.
The Salukis fell in straight sets across the board in the first four matches that were played. Korey Love had to retire due to injury at No. 5 and Vishakha Sheoran did not play at No. 6.
"We need to put up a better front against Drake tomorrow," Nothwehr said.
Southern turns around to take on Drake Sunday morning at 10 a.m. CT.
