CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois women's tennis player Melanie Delsart has been named a Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
A junior from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Delsart went a combined 4-0 last week to help the Salukis to a 2-1 record during their spring break trip to Orlando, Fla. Her efforts also earned her MVC Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.
Delsart teamed up with Korey Love to defeat the No. 1 singles team from New Jersey Institute of Technology last Tuesday before recording SIU's lone singles win against the Highlanders at the No. 1 spot. She finished the week by collecting consecutive two-set wins at No. 1 singles in team wins over North Dakota Wednesday and Rhode Island Thursday.
A finance major, Delsart carries a 3.625 cumulative GPA.
