Anita Lee named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Junior Anita Lee has been selected Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced Wednesday. Lee were honored for their performances during the period of April 1-7.
Lee, a Las Vegas, Nev. native went 3-0 at No. 3 singles and teamed up with Korey Love to go 3-0 in No. 3 doubles last week, helping the SIU women's tennis team to a 3-0 start in MVC play. Lee defeated Evansville's Mina Milovic in straight sets in SIU's 6-1 win over the Purple Aces Thursday before dispatching Illinois State's Carolina Abello with a 10-7 win in the third set Saturday in a 6-1 win over the Redbirds. She closed the week out with another two-set win over Bradley's Carly Miles to help SIU sweep the Braves 7-0 on Sunday. Lee and Love defeated their counterparts from Evansville 8-3, Illinois State 8-4 and Bradley 8-2.
To qualify for Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
