LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Salukis faced tough competition in No. 63-ranked Louisville today, falling 7-0 in the team's second face-off of the spring season. SIU now sits at 1-1 on the season after beating Morehead State yesterday.
Despite the loss, SIU's No. 3 doubles pair, Ariadna Cairo Baza and Yana Golovkina, came away with a 6-2 win. This marks Cairo Baza's second doubles win and Golovkina's third.
According to head coach Audra Anderson, the team will focus more on consistent play in singles moving forward with the season.
"Natasha had some great opportunities and Meagan had a great match, but overall we need to work on playing the point better and deciding what type of a point we want to play," she said.
The Salukis are set to travel to Fayetteville, Ark., next weekend to face Arkansas, Oklahoma and UC Santa Barbara.
