Dawgs wrap up fall season
10/23/2016 | 8:31:00 | Women's Tennis
BLOOMINGTON, IND. – The women's tennis team wrapped up their fall schedule today at the Indiana Alternate Regional Championships. The Salukis compiled up eight total wins over the course of the weekend.
The regional consisted of teams from the Big ten, the Mid-America Conference, the Big East, and the Missouri Valley. Southern Illinois competed in three of the five singles brackets and were able to pick up four wins. Leading the way for the Dawgs was Vitoria Beirao, who had two of the four wins for SIU. The Junior Saluki defeated players from Marquette and Western Michigan in straight sets.
In doubles we saw some different pairings than from weeks in the past, but that didn't phase the Salukis. Polina Dozortseva and Beirao picked up a huge win against a duo from Western Michican to get things going. The pair of Caroline Taty and Yana Golovkina would be the story of the weekend however. The twosome racked up three wins and went undefeated on Friday and Saturday.
