CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Saluki women's tennis team is set to host its annual Saluki Challenge, a doubles tournament open to the Carbondale and surrounding communities. The fundraiser will take place at the Garden Grove Event Center in Carbondale on Saturday, Feb. 27.
The Saluki Challenge includes two to three different bracket levels for both men and women. All participants are guaranteed two matches. Participants may enter with a partner, or have the option to have one assigned at the tournament or play with a member of the Saluki tennis team. Those wishing to play with the Salukis will be paired on a first come, first serve basis.
The entry fee is $45 for participants. Partnering with Salukis, however, is an additional cost at $75 per person. All students will receive a $10 discount with their fee. Entry fees include a light dinner, snacks, trophies and an Under Armour t-shirt for the 1st and 2nd place finishers in each bracket.
All the money raised will go to the SIU women's tennis team to help with seasonal expenses.
To register for the event, please send your name, experience level, and t-shirt size to the following address: aanderson@siu.edu.
Any questions can be directed to head coach Audra Anderson, who can be reached at 618-559-8020 or at the Saluki tennis office at 618-453-5462.
