Southern Illinois University tennis programs to hold tennis clinics and doubles mixer
The Saluki tennis programs will be holding junior and adult fall clinics and a doubles fundraiser in efforts to raise money for SIU's tennis teams.

Carbondale, Ill. – The SIU men's and women's tennis teams will be putting on junior fall clinics for kids ages five to 14, beginner adult clinics, and a doubles mixer starting Sept. 6. All three events are being put on by the programs to raise money for yearly team expenses.

The junior and adult clinics are designed for people with beginner or intermediate skill sets that are looking to improve their technique, coordination skills, and their footwork. Instructors will also help them through competitive group games and drills in a relaxed environment.

The clinics will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. for juniors (5-14), and 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. for adults. The first day of clinics will be held on Sept. 6 and the last day is set for Oct. 13. Rainout days will be made up on Oct. 18 and 20.

The cost to attend is listed below:

6 Sessions - $10 per session (once a week)
12 Sessions - $8 per session (twice a week)
*Discounts are available for families that are registering two or more family members.

The "10th Annual Doubles Mixer Fundraiser" will be held on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. Their will be drills and a prize court starting at 1 p.m., and the doubles mixer will begin at 2 p.m. There will be two to three levels of competition, and prizes will be rewarded to the champions at each level. You do not have to have a doubles partner prior to the event to compete.

The entry fee for the event is $20 for students, and $25 for non-students. Snacks will be provided, and while you are not on the court their will be a silent auction. To register for the mixer be at University Courts (next to Saluki Stadium) at 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 11.
