TERRE HAUTE, IND. - Southern Illinois University's women's swimming and diving program is set to take on Indiana State in their final road match of the 2016-17 season, tomorrow, Jan. 27. This is the third meet ever between the Salukis and Sycamores. SIU has won the previous two, the most recent in 1980.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The women's team is coming off a dominant win over conference opponent, University of Arkansas-Little Rock, 224-74. SIU finished first in all 16 events and swept the podium twice. The Salukis were led by Sarah James, Bryn Handley, and Samantha Parsons. The three Salukis accounted for seven SIU's first place finishes. In diving SIU was led by their two newcomers Baobao and Beibei Ji. The two freshman claimed the top two spots in both the one and three meter diving in their first meet as Salukis.Â
SCOUTING INDIANA STATE
The Sycamores enter their match against SIU at 3-5 overall. ISU's three victories have all been at home this season, winning against Butler, Eastern Illinois, and Rose-Hulman on Jan. 20. FALL 2016 RECAP
The fall 2016 season was a very successful one for the women's swimming and diving squad. The team competed in six total meets, and grabbed first place finishes against Evansville and McKendree, and a second place finish in their weekend meet with Illinois State and Illinois.
Â
Juniors, Kelsie Walker, Rachel Williams, and Bryn Handley, all earned swimmer/diver of the week honors in the Missouri Valley Conference. Handley has earned the award three times and Williams has earned it twice.

During the fall portion of the season three SIU records were also broken. Freshman standout, Samantha Parsons, captured two of the records on her own.
