Ingram won the WT for the fourth-straight meet with the seventh-best toss in the nation.
Isaac Ingram won the weight throw for the fourth time in as many tries this season at the Indiana Relays and was one of four Salukis to record a lifetime-best in the event Saturday.
Ingram launched the seventh-best toss in the nation at 71'-7.5" (21.83m) and did so in impressive fashion Saturday.Â
The two-time MVC Champion from Harrisburg, Ill. opened at 69'-2" to take an early lead, and after Indiana's Andrew Miller threw 70'-4" (21.44m) on his second attempt, unleashed his first toss of 71'-plus on his fourth attempt to take the lead for good. Ingram saved his best for last Saturday, as he threw a lifetime-best 71'-7.5" (21.83m) on his final toss to put an exclamation point on his fourth-straight victory in his signature event.Â
It was also the fourth-straight meet in which Ingram has upped his PR in the weight throw. In addition to jumping four spots in the national rankings, Ingram also moved past Mark Milleville for third on SIU's all-time list.
Ricky Hurley threw a lifetime-best 62'-1.75" (18.94m) to finish fifth Saturday. Hurley's mark is the second-best in the MVC this season. Adam Kessler also set a PR with a toss of 59'-3" (18.06m) to finish eight. It's the fourth-best mark in the conference this season. Sam Sikon was the fourth Saluki to record a personal-best at the Indiana Relays. Sikon threw 49'-7.25" (15.12m) to notch a PR by more than two feet.
In the jumps, Marcellus Fletcher was the runner up in the triple jump with his second-best mark of the season. Fletcher jumped 47'-6.5" (14.49m) to finish second to Indiana's Eric Bethea, who won with a mark of 50'-6.25" (15.40m). Bethea was a two-time national qualifier in the event a year ago.
On the women's side, Alexis Roberson took third in the weight with a toss of 62'-10.75" (19.17m). It marked the third time in four meets that the sophomore thrower has tallied a mark of 60 feet or further.
Ashanna Hodge also notched a top-five finish for the Salukis in the triple jump. Hodge took fourth Saturday with a mark of 37'-10.75" (11.55m).Â
