All-Time Series vs. Drake
The Salukis and the Bulldogs will meet for the 84th time on Sunday, with Drake leading the all-time series 55-28. That record, however, can be deceiving, as Southern and Drake have split the 34 (17-17) lifetime meetings in Carbondale. The Bulldogs have been victorious in their last two trips to the Arena, pulling out the 71-60 victory a year ago en route to a unblemished conference season. Southern's last win at home against the Bulldogs came on Feb. 6, 2015- an 81-76 victory. the 2014-15 season also marked the last time that SIU swept the Valley's Iowa contingent (Drake/UNI) at home. Prior to that season, it had been since the 2006-07 that Southern had accomplished the feat.
Scouting the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs, despite the loss of All-MVC first teamers Lizzy Wendell and Caitlin Ingle, continue to be a force offensively. Drake is 8-7 this year and joins SIU and Bradley as the only teams without a loss in conference play this season. The Bulldogs lead the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.37), assists per game (21.9), field goal percentage (45.7%), rebounds (607) and scoring offense (82.2). The Bulldogs also make the most three-pointers per game in the league with a 9.1 three-pointers per game average. Sara Rhine averages 15.5 points per game to lead the Bulldogs while Becca Hittner is right behind her at 15.4 ppg.
Current Salukis vs. the Bulldogs
Kylie Giebelhausen is averaging 9.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in six career meetings against the Bulldogs. Giebelhausen has reached double figures in four of her six career games against Drake, including six points, five rebounds and five assists as a freshman in SIU's 81-76 over the Bulldogs inside the SIU Arena on Feb. 6, 2015. Nicole Martin had 11 points and six rebounds last year at home against Drake.
3-0 Start
The Salukis improved to 3-0 in MVC play for the second time in three seasons and the third time since the Valley began play in 1992. Southern is seeking its first-ever 4-0 start to Valley play on Sunday against Drake. When SIU was in the Gateway Conference prior to the conference's merger with the MVC in 1992, the Salukis won 37-straight conference games under legendary head coach Cindy Scott from March 6, 1985 through Dec. 30, 1987, a stretch which included two perfect conference slates and two appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
Breaking a streak
The Salukis won their second-straight over the UNI Panthers at home, which marks the first time since the 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons that the Salukis have posted back-to-back home wins over UNI.
Good Company
Makenzie Silvey scored seven of SIU's 11 points in overtime during their win over UNI, which was the second time this season she has led the Salukis in scoring in OT. Silvey scored five of SIU's 11 overtime points in its 79-74 win over SEMO on Nov. 22. It's the most points by a Saluki in overtime since Rishonda Napier scored eight points to help lead Southern to a 79-70 win over Tennessee State on Nov. 21, 2015.
10-plus steals
The Salukis recorded 10 steals in the win over the Panthers on Jan. 5, which marked the third time this season, and the first in Valley play, that they've accomplished the feat. Southern improved to 3-0 this season when tallying 10-plus steals.
Best Offense is a good defense
The Salukis are top-3 in the MVC in both field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense. Southern is shooting at a 42.1% clip, the third-best in the league, while holding opponents to 38.5% from the field, the third-lowest in the conference.

She's one of 22 Salukis all-time to record at least seven 10-plus point efforts during their freshman season. She can crack the top-15 in program history for most 10-plus point games by a freshman with her next double digit output. Angela Tolbert scored 10-plus points in eight games during the 1999-00 season.
40+ rebounds
The Salukis tied a season-high with 41 rebounds and won the battle of the boards, 41-to-40, in the OT win over the Panthers, which marked the third time this season that SIU has recorded 41 rebounds. Southern also did so against Morehead State and Martin Methodist.

The Salukis improved to 5-0 in conference home openers under head coach Cindy Stein with their 60-53 OT win over UNI on Jan. 5. Southern also made it 5-0 in conference openers under Coach Stein with its 74-62 win at Evansville on Dec. 29.
Approaching a milestone
Head coach Cindy Stein sits just two wins shy of 350 for her career. The win over Indiana State marked her 65th career win as Southern's head coach.
13 shy of 500
Kylie Giebelhausen is 13 rebounds shy of 500 for her career. If and when she does reach 500, she will become the 23rd Saluki to do so.
