RALEIGH, N.C. — The Southern Illinois men's golf program travels east to North Carolina to compete in the Wolfpack Intercollegiate this weekend (Oct. 5-6). NC State will host the 54-hole tournament at the par 72, 7,358-yard Lonnie Pool Golf Course. It will be SIU's fourth tournament of the fall season.

The first 36 holes will start on Saturday in a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m ET. The final round will be on Sunday in a shotgun start at 8 a.m. ET. Live stats for each round can be found here.

Southern is one of 15 teams set to compete at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate. Seven teams rank top-100 in latest golfweek rankings and four competed at the 2019 NCAA Regionals.

The five-man Saluki lineup will consist of Frankie Thomas, Matthis Besard, Birgir Magnusson, Andrew Thornton and Riley Klingelberg. Tom Cleaton will compete as an individual. Thomas and Besard have golfed in three tournaments this fall season, while Thornton and Magnusson have been in two. Klingelberg and Cleaton will be making their first appearances since the Racer Invitational, where both finished in the top half of the standings.

Thomas has started the 2019-20 season with three straight opening rounds in the 60's. He entered his senior campaign with four career rounds in the 60's, but has doubled the mark in just three tournaments. Heading into the weekend, he sits in a tie for fourth place in school history with eight career rounds in the 60's.

The Salukis last competed at the Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati, where they placed 12th out of 13 teams. Thomas and Besard led SIU, as both tied for 22nd place out of 75 golfers at 3-over par. It was the second-straight tournament that Besard and Thomas were atop of the individual standings.
