Five Things to Know: SIU at Western Kentucky

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southern Illinois Salukis women's soccer squad (3-3-1 overall) will head east to take on the Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers (2-2-1) in the final game of the team's three-game road trip on Friday at 6 p.m.
1. LAST TIME OUT: The Salukis are coming off of their worst loss of the season, falling to the Ohio University Bobcats 7-0 on Sunday. The Salukis were outshot 25-3 and trailed 7-2 in corner kicks.
2. SCOUTING WKU: The Hilltoppers are coming off of a 1-0 loss to 2018 NCAA Tournament team Ole Miss on Sept. 5. A pair of forwards, Ansley Cate and Ashley Leonard, lead the team in scoring with two goal apiece. Ambere Barnett leads the club in assists with four and overall points with six. In goal, senior Anne-Marie Ulliac leads the team in wins with two and saves with 27 in over 490 minutes of action.
WKU has outscored their opponents this season by a margin of 8-4. The team trails its opponents in shots (74-69), shots on goal (31-27) and has committed 18 more fouls than their opponents (56-38).
3. NATIONAL RANKINGS: As a team, the Salukis are ranked in the top-100 of two statistical categories. The team is 22nd in saves per game (7.00), in addition to being ranked 80th in corner kicks per game (5.43). Individually, freshman Dariana Mihalache ranks third in the nation in total saves with 40.
WKU ranks in the top-100 of six categories, including being 36th in save percentage (.871), 49th in assists per game (2.00), 65th in total assists (10), 72nd in saves per game (5.40), 81st in corner kicks per game (5.40) and 98th in points per game (5.20). Individually, Ambere Barnett is 14th in total assists (4), 19th in assists per game (.80) and 41st in shots per game (3.80).
Additionally, Ulliac ranks in the top-100 of multiple categories, including being 14th in saves per game (27.00), 16th in shutouts (4), 35th in save percentage (.871), 50th in total saves (27), 65th in goals against average (.734) and 71st in goalie minutes played (490:45).
4. FAMILIAR FACES: SIU's Alyssa Fallon and WKU's Avery Jacobsen both are natives of Las Vegas, Nev. and are alumni of Palo Verde High School. Fallon, a freshman this year at SIU, was enrolled at the school during Jacobsen's final two years at the institution.
