CARBONDALE, ILL. – The 2026 spring soccer season has concluded for Southern Illinois, and it was another successful session for a program building momentum following their record, 10-win 2025 fall season.
"Overall, I'm extremely proud of what this group accomplished throughout the spring," says head coach Graeme Orr. "Our players showed tremendous growth not only on the field, but also in the classroom and in the community. The success we had came from their commitment to each other, their work ethic, and the culture they continue to build every day. Just as important as the wins and achievements was the way our team represented the program through community service, fundraising efforts, and academics. We're excited about the direction we're heading and look forward to building on this momentum moving forward."
On the field, the team posted a 4-0-1 record in spring matches. They picked up wins on the road at SEMO, Austin Peay, and Bethel, while they also defeated Brescia in Carbondale. SIU's only non-win of the spring came when they tied Quincy on home turf. The 3-2 win over Austin Peay is likely the highlight of the season, as the Salukis scored three goals in the final 30 minutes to overcome a two-goal deficit.
Off the pitch, soccer continues to make a positive impact in the community. Collectively, the team logged over 458 service hours through Helper Helper. They also hosted their third annual youth skills camp, which was gone from 100 participants to 140 to most recently 185 over the three years of its running.
Soccer also found success in the fundraising realm, having raised $2,500 between events like their Chipotle fundraiser and Easter camp.
Finally, in the classroom, the Salukis continue to push for academic excellence and build off their 3.65 team GPA from the fall.
