Five Things to Know: SIU vs. Lipscomb

CARBONDALE, Ill. –Southern Illinois women's soccer (4-4-1 overall) returns home on Thursday to take on the Lipscomb University Bison (5-3) at 6 p.m.
1. LAST TIME OUT: The Salukis are coming off of a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over Morehead State University in a game that saw freshman midfielder Ellie Lewis net her first career goal on a 40-yard free kick in the second minute of overtime for the win. The win marked the program's first-ever overtime victory.
2. SCOUTING LIPSCOMB: The Bison are coming off of a 2-0 victory over Tennessee Tech on Sunday and are winners of three out of their previous four matches. Senior forward Olivia Doak leads the team in goals with three, followed by forwards Molly Grant and Maycie McKay at two apiece. McKay leads the squad in assists with three, while Doak leads in overall points with seven. In goal, Melissa Gray and Hannah Parrish have split time this season, with Gray leading the pair in saves with seven. Together, the pair allow just over a goal per game (1.17).
The Bison are coached by Kevin O'Brien, who is in his seventh year with Lipscomb. During his tenure at the school, O'Brien has earned two Atlantic Sun Conference Coach of the Year honors (2016, 2018), while earning an overall record of 70-48-22.
3. SALUKI STATS: The Salukis are led in scoring by freshmen Emma Spotak and Liz Brechtel with two goals apiece, followed by Kathryn Creedon, Ellie Lewis, Madison Bennion and Madison Meiring all tied with one goal each. Andrea Rodriguez is the team leader in assists with two, followed by Maya Warrior, Paityn Schneider, Creedon and Spotak with one each. In goal, Dariana Mihalache is the club leader in minutes (562:42) and saves (49), a mark that is good for ninth in Division I.
