Five Things to Know: SIU at Colorado College

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southern Illinois University Saluki women's soccer team (4-5-1 overall) looks to record the program's first road victory when they travel to face the Colorado College Tigers (4-1) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
1. LAST TIME OUT: The Salukis were blanked 6-0 by Lipscomb on Thursday evening, while the Tigers fell victim to a 2-0 decision at the University of Illinois last Sunday.
2. SCOUTING COLORADO COLLEGE: Colorado College is led in scoring by sophomore forward Jacqui Hand with four goals on the year, followed by juniors Jenna Wilt and Tayla Wheeler with two apiece. Wilt is the overall leader in points with 10 and assists with six. Freshman goalkeeper Abby Opperman leads the goalies in minutes (314), saves (11) and wins (3), while allowing under a goal per game (0.86).
Colorado College is coached by Geoff Bennett, who is in the midst of his 15thseason with the Tigers. Over the course of his tenure, Colorado College has posted a 161-105-39 overall record, won two conference regular-season titles and has made three appearances in the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship.
3. SALUKI STATS: Freshmen Emma Spotak and Liz Brechtel lead the team in goals with two, followed by Kathryn Creedon, Ellie Lewis, Madison Bennion and Madison Meiring with one each. Andrea Rodriguez is the leader in assists with two, while Spotak leads the team in points with five. In goal, the Salukis have played all four of their keepers with Dariana Mihalache leading the group in total minutes (635), saves (54) and wins (2). Her 54 saves rank eighth in the country.
4. FOLLOW THE SALUKIS: Colorado College will provide live stats and live video of Sunday's match. The match will be held at Washburn Field, where the Tigers hold a record of 12-1-1 in their last 14 games.
5. UP NEXT: SIU will return home on Sunday, Sept. 29 for a match with Texas Rio Grande Valley at 12 p.m. before heading out for a two-game road trip against Southeast Missouri State on Oct. 6 and Eastern Illinois on Oct. 10.
