Southern Illinois women's golf heads to Murray, Kentucky for the 19th annual Jan Weaver Invitational, hosted by Murray State University. The two-day, 54 hole tournament will be played on a par-72, 6,024 yard course at Miller Memorial Golf Course, known for it's hilly terrain, scenic water hazards, and Bermuda grass fairways. The competition is the last of the spring schedule before the MVC Championship on April 18, 2021.
The Salukis lineup will consist of fifth-year Erica Kerr, freshman Janie Samattiyadeekul, sophomore Ayanna Habeel, senior Emilyee McGiles, and senior Moyea Russell. Senior Rosemarie Bundy and sophomore Megan Breslin will be competing as individuals.
SIU is set to tee off Friday at 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun for the first 36 holes. Weather is forecast to be partly cloudy with a high of 78 and a 8mph south wind. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com. Fans are allowed to attend the event, but are required to wear a mask and social distance while on the course.
ABOUT THE INVITATIONAL
The invitational is named after Murray State University supporter, Jan Weaver. She was a teacher and education administrator, serving her students for more than 40 years at the high school and college levels. With Jan and her husband Dick's support, The Weaver Academic Enhancement Center was opened in June of 1997. The center is a vital part of helping MSU student-athletes succeed in the classroom.
