Women's Basketball Looks for 4-0 Valley Start Against UNI

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The Southern Illinois University women's basketball team will look to continue its early success in conference play Saturday at 2 p.m. in a matchup with the UNI Panthers. The Salukis' 3-0 start in conference is the program's first since the 2017-18 season. Southern has not started conference play 4-0 since the 1990-91 season.
The Salukis enter Saturday ranked third in the Missouri Valley Conference in scoring defense, allowing 59.3 points per game. UNI is tied for second in the MVC in scoring offense, averaging 73.1 points per game.
In the post, the Salukis are led by Abby Brockmeyer, who ranks second in the MVC with 10.2 rebounds per game. Southern has won the rebounding battle in nine of their thirteen games this season, and rank third in the MVC in rebounding margin.
The game will be broadcast locally on Magic 95.1, and will stream on ESPN3.
