The Southern Illinois men's golf team is back on the course Saturday, March 5, 2022 for the Desert Mountain Collegiate, hosted by the University of Michigan. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at Desert Mountain's Outlaw Course in Scottsdale, Arizona. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the Outlaw Course is a traditional links-style course adjacent to the Tonto National Forest. The desert scenery features natural washes, rolling hills, with clear views of local landmarks.
The Salukis lineup will be seniors Matthis Besard & Markus Wilhelmsen, sophomore Justin Wingerter, graduate Birgir Magnusson, and freshman Braden Hoisington.
SIU will tee off at 8:30am CT on Saturday. Day one will consist of 36 holes of stroke play, followed by a final 18 on Sunday. The weather forecast is mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60s and 15mph winds. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.
