Saluki Men’s Golf Set for Highlands Invitational

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois men's golf returns to action Monday and Tuesday at the Highlands Invitational in Westchester, Illinois.
The two-day tournament will be played at Chicago Highlands and marks the second event of the fall season for the Salukis. East Tennessee State is hosting the Highlands Invitational on Sept. 21-22.
Southern Illinois enters the tournament after opening the season with a fourth-place finish at the K-State Wildcat Invitational. Oliver Ulrich led the Salukis with a top-10 finish, tying for eighth at 3-over par, while River Stilley and freshman Jamen Sanders both finished tied for 15th at 5-over.
Head coach Justin Fetcho said following the season opener that the team would use the quick turnaround to continue improving before its next opportunity to compete.
"We have a short turnaround before we play again and we have some work to do to get better. We will work hard the next couple of days to be ready to go for our next event," Fetcho said.
The Southern Illinois lineup for the Highlands Invitational will include:
Oliver Ulrich
River Stilley
Jamen Sanders
Emil Elkjaer Petersen
Michael Mikus
Ulrich, Stilley, Sanders and Petersen return to the lineup after competing in the season opener, while sophomore Michael Mikus will enter the lineup for the Salukis. Mikus is a sophomore from Cariari, Costa Rica.
The Highlands Invitational is the second of five tournaments on Southern Illinois' fall schedule. Following the event, the Salukis will travel to Madison, Wisconsin, for the Badger Invitational, Sept. 27-29.
