The Southern Illinois women's golf team was back in action at the 2022 Redbird Spring Invitational, hosted by Illinois State University. After the opening round on Friday was cancelled due to weather, the 9-team field played 36 holes on Saturday. The Salukis finished fifth with a total score of 619 (+43).
Graduate Moyea Russell led SIU with a Top-10 finish, firing a 69 in the final round with five birdies to finish 5-over-par, tied for sixth overall. Russell's mark was the lowest score of the event and tied one of the lowest single-round individual scores in the 58 year history of the Redbird Invitational.
Graduate Rosemarie Bundy shot a 74 in the first round with five birdies to finish with a score of 156 (+12), tied for 23rd. Freshman Kylee Vaughan shot 14-over-par with three birdies in the closing round to finish tied for 29th, Vaughan's top-finish of the 2021-22 season. Sophomore Janie Samattiyadeekul finished tied for 37th at 16-over-par and Junior Secilia Ho rounded out the score for the Salukis with a total of 168 (+24).
Junior Ayanna Habeel competed as an individual, carding 153 to finish 11-over-par, tied for 19th overall. Freshman Morgan Gindler also competed as an individual, finishing with a mark of 163 (+19) for 46th place.

The Salukis return to Carbondale, Illinois to prepare for the MVC Championship beginning April 17, 2022 at Greenbriar Hills Country Club in Kirkwood, Missouri.
