Salukis head to Louisville for Clark Wood Invitational

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southern Illinois University track and field program will take to the road and head to Louisville, Ky., to partake in the Clark Wood Invitational on April 29-30.
The men's long jump will kick off the meet for the Salukis at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Running events are slated to begin Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. with the women's 800 meter run. The action resumes on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.

The Saluki women's throwers will be competing in the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday and Saturday.

Last Time Out
The Salukis are returning to action after competing in the Illini Invitational last week in Champaign, Ill.
Six Salukis were individual event winners at the two day meet. Shauniece O'Neal won the women's hammer throw with a mark of 76.04m, which was a new personal best for her. That mark ranks her 5th all-time at SIU and currently places her 11th in the NCAA. Kayla Schiera was able to win the 5000 Meter run with a time of 16:38.83. That was a new personal best and good enough to break the previous SIU record by nearly 6 seconds. That is the fourth record that she has broken this indoor/outdoor season. Dawson Smith followed that performance with a win of his own in the men's 5000 Meter. He won the race with a new personal best time of 14:21.70.
Jeremiah Hamilton got his first individual win of the season on Friday evening in the men's 200 Meter Dash (20.98). On Saturday, Bri'Yanna Robinson was able to take home gold in the women's discus throw. She recorded a new personal best mark of 49.96m on her sixth and final throw of the finals. A'veun Moore-Jones took home her third shot put win of the outdoor season with her mark of. 15.19m.
Shauniece O'Neal was named the Missouri Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday for her performance at the Illini Invitational.

Following this weekend, the Salukis will travel to Des Moines, Ia. to compete in the MVC Outdoor Championships on May 13-15.
