
Women Pick Up Another Win Against Missouri State

Springfield, Mo. -- The Southern Illinois swimming and diving team wrapped their final day of the meet against Missouri State. The women's team finished with a commanding 214-139 final score against the Bears. The men finished just short of the Bears with a final score of 209.5-140.5 Â

Key performances on Saturday include six first place finishes for the Salukis.
 Celia Pulido , Jasmine Rau ,  Ali Robertson and Zaria Terry  opened the day with a first place finish in the women's 200 medley relay. Celia Pulido  had a first place finish in the 100 backstroke and Olivia Herron had a first place finish in the 200 breaststroke. ""The Saluki women put together two very good days of competition against a tough team. The depth of the women's team shows a lot of promise" head coach Geoff Hanson said.

For the men's team Ian Marshall had a first-place finish in the men's 1000 freestyle. Alex Cimera , Nicolas Lanuza, Donat Csuvarszki and Tiago Faleiros finished first for the men's 200 medley with a time of 1:31.26. ""The Saluki men put together a good second day, but we dug too deep a hole in Day 1 to pull out the win" Hanson said.

On the diving side Lee Haywood  was once again victorious in the men's 1-meter dive, placing first with a score of 281.63.

The Salukis swimming and diving teams will continue on the road against Northwestern and Miami (FL) women on Saturday Oct. 21 at Northwestern.
