
Salukis Win Fourth-Straight in Murray

Murray, Ky. - Southern Illinois won its fourth-straight match Saturday night in its final road contest of the regular season as the Salukis defeated Murray State in four-sets (21-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-22).Â
After a late run by the Racers in the first set, the Salukis found themselves down after set one for the second straight night. However, the Dawgs were able to bounce back and win the next three frames for the second straight night as well as Southern improves 16-10 (8-7 MVC).
Three Salukis tallied double-digit kills for the second consecutive match led by Nataly Garcia with 17 while Annabelle Sulish finished with 14 and Tatum Tornatta had 11. The duo of Garcia and Tatum have both had at least 10 kills in each of Southern's last five matches as the Salukis have gone 4-1 over that stretch.Â
Garcia finished with a season-high four aces, all four of which came in the second set including three in a row to put the Salukis up 7-5 early.Â
Following her career-high 36 digs a night ago, Cecilia Bulmahn finished 21 to lead the Salukis. Sulish was the only other Saluki to finish with 10 or more digs as she tallied 12 to go along with her 14 kills for a double-double.Â
The Salukis return home to Davies Gym for their final three matches of the regular season. SIU will host Illinois State and Bradley this upcoming weekend before Missouri State comes to Carbondale Wednesday, Nov. 15 for the regular season finale.Â
Southern Illinois and the Redbirds will begin at 6pm Friday night followed by a 5pm first serve on Saturday, Nov. 11 for senior night.Â
