Salukis Drop Both In Doubleheader At UNI

SIU got off to a hot start in game one and put up three runs in the top half of the first inning. Jackie Lis drove in the first run of the game on a double for her 36th RBI on the year. Following Lis's RBI double was a two-run single from Rylie Hamilton to make it a 3-0 game after the first half inning of play.
UNI would go on to score three runs of its own in the first inning as well to even the game back up. The Panthers offense didn't slow down there however as they would go on to score in each of the next three innings putting up 17 runs on 18 hits - the most given up by the Saluks on the year.Â
Southern's offense didn't get out to the same start in game two but Madi Eberle was able to keep the Salukis in it early with several key strikeouts leaving multiple Panthers on-base to end the first two innings.Â
UNI pitcher Samantha Heyer was able to slow down SIU's offense as she totaled 14 strikeouts as she's currently top-10 in the country in total strikeouts on the season. The Panther would go on to put up seven runs on seven hits including four home runs to win by a final of 7-0.
SIU and UNI will conclude the series finale on Saturday at 2 PM.
